About Chris Bournea

Chris Bournea is a filmmaker, journalist, and author whose work illuminates forgotten chapters of American cultural history. Based in Columbus, Ohio, Chris directed and produced the documentary Lady Wrestler: The Amazing, Untold Story of African-American Women in the Ring, exploring the lives of pioneering athletes who trained in Columbus during the sport's golden age from the 1930s through the 1960s.

As a writer, Chris co-authored All Jokes Aside: Standup Comedy Is a Phunny Business with Raymond Lambert, offering readers an insider's look at the legendary Chicago comedy club that helped launch Chris Rock, Steve Harvey, Jamie Foxx, Bernie Mac, and Dave Chappelle. He is also the author of the novel The Chloe Chronicles, following the globe-trotting adventures of a multiracial young woman, with an updated edition currently in development.

Chris's creative vision extends to the stage as well. He wrote and directed The Springtime of Our Lives, a dramatic play that premiered at the Columbus Performing Arts Center in 2013 and played Cleveland's Playhouse Square in 2014. His multidisciplinary approach to storytelling reflects a passion for preserving history and giving voice to underrepresented communities.
